Minnesota Children’s Museum - It’s only natural for children to need a little extra pizzaz from their museum experiences. The Minnesota Children’s Museum is the best place to give this to them. This museum is full of interactive exhibits and other educational attractions designed around children.

Minnesota History Center - This museum is living proof that there are many different ways to learn about history. It departs from regular types of exhibits to include interactive demonstrations and more. Learn about the history of Minnesota and Saint Paul in a unique, new way.

Make your way to downtown Saint Paul early on Tuesday, March 17 to get a good spot for the 54th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This event will feature dozens of floats, dancers, bands, and other entertainers. Bring the whole family and get lost in a sea of green.

For some more adult fun, you’ll want to continue the party with LuckyPalooze on West 7th. This large block party will be going strong from 2:00 pm until 11:00 pm. Drink and revel with hundreds of others as you enjoy green beers and good vibes.

For a more traditional experience, the 37th Annual Irish Celebration in downtown Saint Paul on March 16 is your go-to. This festival celebrates everything Irish and will have countless authentic Irish entertainment. Additionally, the entire week leading up to St. Patrick’s Day will feature various bars and restaurants all over town putting on their Irish-best and serving up some corned beef. Get your fill of Irish cuisine and fun in Saint Paul!

The Saint Paul Winter Carnival has so much to do that it’s almost easier to name some things not included, but that wouldn’t be as much fun. Start your fun at Rice Park where marvelous ice sculptures take center stage in their very own garden. These carvings may be larger than you and will amaze you with their level of detail. The park will also feature parades on select days, family fun nights, and ice bars serving everything from mulled wine to ice-cold beers. Sledding, live performances, and 5k winter runs will also be taking place throughout the carnival.

The festivities take place all around downtown Saint Paul, with main features at Rice Park, Landmark Center, and the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. Choose your favorite days and make your way over to a legendary winter tradition.

From December 6 to February 22, CHS Field will be transformed into a winter wonderland. The third baseline will be transformed into the Wells Fargo WinterSkate ice rink. Enjoy daily (with holiday exceptions) skating that includes the option for skate rentals and lessons.

Those looking for a bit more of an adrenaline rush will love the Securian SuperSlide. This 130-foot slide starts at the top of the Securian Financial Club and shoots downwards right onto the field. Children and adults both agree that this slide alone is worth the trip. No winter wonderland would be complete without concession stands so don’t worry about packing food and drinks as there will be many options on-site.

Fort Snelling is located right on the confluence of the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers and was strategically placed there to aid in the early defense of Saint Paul. This confluence is the site of a national historic landmark known as the Dakota Homeland as it has been used by natives as a major trading hub for over 10,000 years. Fort Snelling is also a huge educational hub that is dedicated to teaching guests about the many uses this site has had throughout human history.

There are many unique ways to learn about history from Fort Snelling. Throughout the day, there are many demonstrations put on by reenactment professionals that showcase how things were done back in the day. You will learn everything from pioneer-time cooking to blacksmithing and military tactics. Plenty of other activity stations line the fort as well as guided tours and the opportunity for self-guided ones too.

Fort Snelling has just opened up again for the year and will run from November through May, so make sure to plan a visit during your next trip to Saint Paul!

If letting your ghoul out on Halloween day isn’t an option this year, there are many events and activities on the weekend before Halloween. Families can spend their Saturdays at the Gibbs Farm Halloween Festival where costumed fun, crafts, and farm tours are available for the kids! Families can also enjoy a Sunday at Landmark with the Great Pumpkin Halloween Celebration. Enjoy a costume parade, trick-or-treating, live music and performances, and the most fun Halloween-themed crafts around. Those looking for a more awe-inspiring night can check out Hidden Falls Regional Park from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm for a live puppet fire show and musical performances on both October 26 and October 31.

For some more adult-themed late-night fun, check out Lake Monster Brewing Company for their annual Monster Bash on October 26. Here spooky brews, loud music, and costume contests are sure to make your night out one to remember.

With so much to see and do and hours of 9:30 am - 5:00 pm daily, the hardest decision you’ll have to make is where to begin. Maybe you want to explore your inner workings and start with the interactive Human Body Gallery. Have you ever wondered how physics and biology combine to create perfect movements in various sports? If so, the Sportsology section will keep you busy for hours! How about some demonstration? Starting at 10:30, Science Live demonstrations will be taking place throughout the museum. See up close how cryogenics work or learn how to train your very own dinosaur should the opportunity ever present itself.

Have you ever wanted to dive to the bottom of the ocean and communicate with dolphins? Since everyone is nodding in agreement, make sure to swim over into The Click Effect. This short film follows researchers as they dive deep below the waters. However, this isn’t just any short film. You will get to see the world from the researchers’ perspective with state-of-the-art virtual reality headsets! This new addition to the museum and the countless interactive and educational exhibits make this local gem one that you and your family will want to see any time you’re in Saint Paul.

Come join the festivities and gorge yourself on August 17 from noon to 10:00 pm. You don’t have to stay that entire time, but we absolutely won’t judge you if you do. If crispy pork belly and fresh wood-fired pizza sound right up your alley, then hang on to your seat because that’s just the appetizer. This year, over 40 local legends are bringing their culinary best to the festival for your enjoyment. Wash it all down with local craft brews and enjoy some live music too. The Saint Paul Food Truck Festival will have games and activities for the whole family so save your appetite and check out some seriously delicious munchies.

Learn where the great in great apes comes from as you hang out with our gorilla and orangutan friends. See for yourself once and for all that yes, snakes as large as a school bus do in fact exist. Maybe you just want to feed a giraffe a little bit of lettuce; just be careful not to get licked by their almost 2-foot long tongue. Whatever exhibit you will look forward to most, make sure to add the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory to your list of things you must do in Saint Paul.

Built in Saint Paul’s historic Lowertown District—just three-quarters of a mile from the InterContinental Saint Paul Riverfront—CHS Field is home to the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball’s Saint Paul Saints. It also hosts Hamline University’s baseball team and is used for a variety of purposes from weddings to festivals to corporate events.

The stadium—which opened just this decade—is also a study in sustainability; roughly 12 percent of its electricity is generated by solar panels, and its sprinkler and plumbing systems are fed by a 27,000-gallon rainwater collector.
